our story
I made this bikini for 16-year-old me.
I started Pikini after I missed my own birthday pool party at 16. I'd just gotten my period that morning, panicked, didn't know how to use a tampon, and faked a stomachache in the bathroom while my friends swam without me. I remember thinking, there has to be a better way to do this.
Ten years later, there still wasn't. Period swim either looked clinical or didn't look like a bikini you'd actually want to wear. Nobody had bridged the two. So I started Pikini in my apartment in Vancouver, with one prototype, one strawberry print, and a small grant from the Women's Enterprise Centre.
Every Pikini is made in small batches, lab-tested for safety, and built for the girl I was, and the girl my future daughter will be. This isn't a wellness brand. It's a swimwear brand that just happens to have your back.
